CFC - ILS Set No. 3

Description

For four years now, I've had this fixation with the card artwork style behind the Neo-Geo Pocket game "Capcom vs. SNK - Card Fighters Clash." [link] I got the fixation from the sprite edits and recolors of cards people did for avatars in the Bob and George forums. I wound up taking that fixation and infecting the Megazeux community with it when I did (crappy) CFC edits of my own ... and yet, I wound up doing 40--up to the point they had to point it out in their community FAQ! Since then, I've gotten marginally better at spriting. As an exercise I made cards for my characters, but I tried to make them original--not carbon copy sprite edits or recolors. However, I still have trouble capturing the style of CFC's artists, so in some parts I did occasionally base a character's card sprite off an original card's features--usually eyes, but sometimes hands or face.

Either way, they are mostly originally drawn, and certainly not mere recolors. Also, these cards are presented as their profiles would look if viewed in the real game--so, you get to see what their skills/special abilities are.

This third set includes some of the Action Cards I made to go along with my character cards set. These particular cards depict specific starfighters in the Ad Ultimum universe. "Dogfight!" depicts the premier IFRE/TerraFed starfighter, the F/A-77B Empyrean. [link] The "Wingman" card depicts the starfighter preferred by the Celestial Knights, known as the McKinley Industries KI-F95 Terminator. "Force Recon" depicts the symbolic border patrol and interceptor of the Star's End Independent Alliance, the Simon-Avril Aerospace SA-I20 Meteor. "Vitiate" depicts the main starfighter of the villanous Rightful Domain, which they call the Lightbringer.
